I’d spent Christmas, New year & my Birthday in hospital on bedrest awaiting the arrival of our newest family members. The nurses had been watching me intently, worried that at any moment I could go into labour. I had reached the point where I could no longer turn over in bed – I had to climb out of the bed, walk around the bed & get in the other side.
My C-section had been booked for the 5th of January – exactly 35 weeks & I was determined that the bubs were going to stay put until that date.
We made it past all the milestones ( and believe me, when you carry multiples every milestone along the way is a major event) and we were about to become parents for the first time.
We had been told that we may not get to hold any of the babies in the theater as they were still 5 weeks premature and may need to be whisked away to intensive care. For this reason I am so grateful to have this photo of the Five of us together at the very begining of our amazing journey. Moments later Michael was taken to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as he was having trouble breathing . Alita and Loki were taken to the special care nursery (SCU) & I didn’t see any of them again until the next day.
